Scar Reduction

Scar Reduction

Scars can occur for countless reasons. Some may be a good conversation starter, while others may just be an annoyance to look at every day. Laser treatments can be used to reduce the appearance of scars on the skin.

Lasers Can Fade Scars Caused by:

● Raised scars from surgery or injury

● Burn marks

● Acne scars

● Dark spots or age spots

We start by cleaning the scar and marking the treatment area with a pen. We then numb the area with a topical anesthetic to avoid discomfort during the treatment. Depending on the area you are having treatment on, we may give you goggles to prevent damage to the eyes.

We will then start the laser treatment by using focused light therapy to remove the outer layer of the skin and stimulate the production of new skin over the damaged skin cells. The heat from the lasers also promotes collagen production, which makes the skin appear smoother when it heals.

Most patients describe the treatment as a stinging or slight burning sensation. Others describe it as feeling like a rubber band is hitting their skin. After the treatment, we will cover the area with a clean dressing and give you post-care instructions.

You should see results after your first treatment; however, you may need several treatments to achieve optimal scar reduction.
